Summer Horns featuring Dave Koz, Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot

summerhornsThere is a new definition of awesome in the smooth jazz lexicon. Awesome is now defined as the collaboration among Dave Koz, Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot on their Grammy-nominated Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns CD and its phenomenal tour. One may fear that these four saxophone superstars may clash on stage, but instead they inspire each other to new heights of musical excitement. You think I’m exaggerating?
Got to Get You Into My Life:

And they are now on tour, soon to be appearing in New York City (I’ll be there and you should be too! Click here to get tickets asap!). The project began when Dave Koz wanted to celebrate all the great horn bands with which those of us of a certain age grew up, bands like Chicago, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Tower of Power.
Hot fun in the Summertime:

All these players are headliners in their own right. Let’s go through the list. Mindi Abair, featured saxophonist on the 2011 and 2012 seasons of “American Idol” who joined Aerosmith on their 2012 Summer Tour; Gerald Albright, known for his acclaimed solo recordings and performances with Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, and The Temptations; and Richard Elliot, a former member of Tower of Power who has since forged a successful solo career.
So Very Hard To Go:

If you are in NYC on August 14th, it is imperative that you join on the Smooth Jazz New York Cruise to see Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns. Tickets are still available for the 9:30 show. Click image below to get tickets ASAP. The 6:30 show is already sold out!

About Daniel Odescalchi

I've been a smooth jazz fan since I was first turned onto David Sanborn, Marcus Miller & Bob James in the 80's. And who could forget Dave Grusin. Unfortunately after a while too many people started doing pop covers and it polluted the smooth jazz pool. That's starting to change and this blog is dedicated to educating people on the enjoyment of smooth jazz and the artists that perform it.
